Millwright work in the CSRA is tied to the region's continuous-process plants and generation facilities. When a paper machine, turbine or production line comes down, the window to install, align and put it back is fixed, and the crew has to be right the first time. That makes this the craft where regional experience is worth the most — the plants here have their own way of doing things, and people who have worked them before move faster.
What the assignments look like
- Install, align and level rotating equipment — pumps, gearboxes, turbines, conveyors
- Precision alignment and vibration correction
- Scheduled outage and turnaround mechanical work
- Rigging and machinery moves alongside crane crews
Site conditions
Overwhelmingly plant work. Outages run long shifts, frequently nights and weekends, in tight timeframes with everyone on site at once. Lockout/tagout discipline is non-negotiable and precision matters more than pace.
