The region
What the CSRA is, and why we staff it from here
The Central Savannah River Area straddles the state line either side of Augusta — thirteen counties in Georgia and five in South Carolina, with Augusta, Aiken and North Augusta at the centre of it. People here have always crossed the river for work, and the labor market behaves as one market rather than two.
Craftsman & Labor Solutions is headquartered in Aiken, in the middle of it. We staff nationwide — our shutdown and turnaround crews travel wherever the work is — but the CSRA is home. That matters in practical ways when you are looking for work: you are talking to people in your own time zone who know the roads, the plants and the difference between a job in Graniteville and one in Waynesboro.
We do not charge workers anything, at any point. We are paid by the employers who hire our crews.
What drives work here
The region’s industrial base
Knowing which sectors run in this region tells you where the hours are, and when. Some of this work is steady year-round; some of it concentrates into outages and construction phases where a lot of people are needed at once.
Federal & nuclear operations
The federal nuclear complex spread across Aiken, Barnwell and Allendale counties covers more than 300 square miles and anchors the region's economy. Work on and around sites like it runs on scheduled outages, maintenance campaigns and construction phases — which is exactly the kind of work that needs crews assembled quickly and cleared to be on site.
Power generation
Burke County, Georgia holds the largest nuclear generating capacity in the country, and the region carries conventional generation and transmission work alongside it. Generation work is outage-driven: long quiet stretches, then a compressed window where headcount matters more than anything.
Pulp, paper & specialty chemicals
The Savannah River corridor has carried pulp, paper and chemical processing for generations. These are continuous-process plants — they run around the clock and shut down deliberately, so maintenance and turnaround labor is a permanent feature rather than an occasional need.
Advanced manufacturing
Aiken County's industrial corridor along Sage Mill has drawn substantial tire, automotive and component manufacturing investment, with more capacity still being built. Manufacturing carries steady production labor plus periodic install, changeover and expansion work.
Data center construction
Large-scale data center projects are under construction in Aiken County, with further development moving through Graniteville and the surrounding area. These are construction projects first and operations sites second — the labor demand is front-loaded into the build.
Distribution & warehousing
The I-20 and I-520 corridors through Augusta and Aiken County carry regional distribution. Warehouse work here is year-round with seasonal peaks, and it is often the fastest way into steady hours for someone new to the workforce.
Healthcare & institutional
Augusta's medical district is one of the largest employment concentrations in the region, and the Army's cyber installation southwest of the city adds a substantial institutional footprint. Both generate ongoing facilities, grounds, construction support and event labor.

Working with us in the CSRA
- Do I have to live in Aiken to work with you?
- No. Our office is in Aiken, SC, but we staff across the whole CSRA — Aiken County, Augusta and Richmond County, North Augusta, Graniteville, Beech Island, Barnwell County and Burke County. Tell your recruiter where you are starting from and what you can travel, and we will match you to assignments you can reliably get to.
- Do you place workers in both South Carolina and Georgia?
- Yes. We staff both sides of the Savannah River as one market. Plenty of the people on our books live in South Carolina and work in Georgia, or the other way around.
- Do I need experience or a trade?
- No — many of our roles are entry-level general labor. We also place experienced skilled trades. Apply and we'll match you to what fits.
- Is there any cost to apply or get placed?
- Never. Workers never pay a fee. We're paid by the employers who hire our crews.
- How does same-day pay work?
- On qualifying assignments you can get paid the same day you work, instead of waiting for a weekly check. Same-day pay is subject to contract conditions — ask your recruiter which roles offer it.
- Do I need my own transportation?
- For now, yes — it helps to have your own ride. A transportation-support program (carpool options and bus-line assignments) is coming soon. In the meantime, tell your recruiter your situation and we'll match you to assignments you can reliably get to.
